A recent study published in Cardiovascular Pathology explored the Seaport criteria's application in diagnosing lymphocytic myocarditis through autopsy analysis of 93 hearts. The study categorized myocardial inflammation as diffuse, multifocal, or focal and identified 28 cases with lymphocytic infiltrates of uncertain significance. Through a detailed retrospective review, it evaluated technical compliance and histological reporting. The findings revealed that while most cases met sampling standards, pediatric cases frequently fell short, reflecting specific challenges in diagnosing myocarditis in younger populations.
